Mr. Dilip J. Thakkar

Mr. Dilip Thakkar had the distinction of standing First in the country in the Final Chartered Accountancy Examination in 1960 thereby winning the G.P.Kapadia Gold Medal and several other prizes of the Institute as well as of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute.
He is a past President of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society and till recently, Chairman of the Society’s International Taxation Committee; Director of several public and private limited companies in India and abroad and also Trustee of several Public charitable trusts. The RBI had appointed Mr. Thakkar as a Member of the India Advisory Boards of Honkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd. and the British Bank of the Middle East during 1986-94. He was the Chairman of both Advisory Boards during 1990-94. He has been a Trustee of HSBC Mutual Fund of the Hongkong Bank in India since February, 2002.
Mr. Thakkar has contributed several articles and papers in many professional and other journals and publications on a variety of subjects on Taxation, Auditing, Public Trusts, Foreign Exchange Regulations, Taxation of Non-Residents, International Taxation etc. Besides, he has delivered talks at several conferences and seminars on these subjects in India and abroad. He has conducted several orientation courses for training young Chartered Accountants on Foreign Exchange Regulations Act and FEMA. He has travelled abroad extensively on his professional work. |
